1. Restart Your iPhone
First and foremost, you should restart your iPhone. This will help sort out any minor glitches with your iPhone that might be causing the issue. To turn off your iPhone, navigate to Settings > General and tap on Shut Down. Then use the slider to power off your iPhone. Wait for a minute or two and press and hold the Sleep/Wake button to power on your iPhone.
2. Check Apple Music System Status
Before diving deep into the other solutions, you need to verify the Apple Music system status to see if the problem is not on the server-side. To do that, open up a web browser and navigate to Apple’s System Status page. Now check the System Status for Apple Music.
3. Turn Off Bluetooth
Since iPhone is configured to connect with paired Bluetooth devices automatically, Apple Music may pause if your iPhone is trying to connect to a nearby Bluetooth device. To rule out that possibility, turn off Bluetooth on your iPhone. Open Settings and go to Bluetooth. Then toggle off the switch next to Bluetooth.
4. Disable Low Data Mode
The Data saver setting on your iPhone can limit Apple Music’s ability to proficiently use the internet. So, if you’ve enabled Low Data Mode on your iPhone, then Apple Music may pause repeatedly, ruining the experience. To disable Low Data Mode on Wi-Fi, go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap the info icon next to your Wi-Fi network and turn off the switch next to Low Data Mode. Similarly, if you’re using mobile data, go to Settings > Mobile Data. Tap on Mobile Data Options and turn off Low Data Mode.
5. Disable Low Power Mode
Likewise, a battery saver can also restrict an app’s ability to work at its full potential. So, you’ll need to disable the battery saver. To do so, open Settings on iPhone and go to Battery. Now toggle off Low Power Mode from there.
6. Download Tracks or Albums
Another way to avoid such random pauses in Apple Music is to download the songs or albums for offline usage. To do so, tap the three-dot icon at the top and select Download from the list.
7. Remove and Download Tracks Again
If the Apple Music pauses only while listening to downloaded tracks, then it could be the case of tracks’ data being corrupted. You can try deleting the song and downloading it again to see if that helps.
8. Reinstall the Music App
If you’re still facing the same issue, then try uninstalling the Apple Music app and installing it again. Tap and hold the Apple Music app icon and Delete App. Tap on Delete when prompted. Now download Apple Music again to see if the issue is resolved.
9. Disable Automatic Ear Detection in AirPods
If you’re listening to Apple Music on your AirPods, those random pauses could also occur due to the Automatic Ear Detection feature. To turn off Automatic Ear Detection, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Now tap the info icon next to your AirPods and turn off the switch next to Automatic Ear Detection.
10. Update iPhone
Next, you can try updating your iPhone. Software updates usually bring all kinds of improvements, new features, and bug fixes. So, if those random pauses are only occurring due to a bug then updating your iPhone should help. To check for updates on iPhone, open Settings and go to General. Then tap on Software Update.
11. Reset Your iPhone
If none of the solutions above work, you might have to reset your iPhone as a last resort. This will reset all your settings preferences to their default value which might end up fixing the issue.
- Launch the Settings app and navigate to General. Go to Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Next, tap on Reset and choose Reset All Settings from the resulting menu. Next, you’ll be asked to enter your passcode. Once verified, your iPhone will begin resetting itself.
